Case Study 1

Project Background

A four-bedroom family home, with extensive ground floor electric underfloor heating.  Electricity usage was 13,150 kWh per year, and the homeowner was switching from a hybrid vehicle to a full electric vehicle in the summer.

Solution

  • A dual aspect (2-string) 21-panel installation, linked to a 13kw Tesla Powerwall battery (with built in inverter).
  • They were able to buy cheaper electricity overnight, charge their PHEV and fill up their battery, and sell the excess they generated during the day, back to the grid at double what they paid overnight.
  • The predicted export back to the grid was 14% on top of 86% self-consumption.

R.O.I.

Their estimated nett saving was £48,900, which equated to a 16.5% rate of return on investment and a 306% total return on investment over the system lifetime.

Payback Duration

The ‘payback period on their system was six years and six months.

Environmental Impact

The system avoided 2 tons of C02 which equates to 353 trees being planted.
