Case Study 2

Project Background

The client had a house with an annexe where his elderly parents live. He uses two large air source heat pumps to run his heating and hot water and his annual electricity usage was 9,200 kWh.

Solution

  • A 20-panel installation, linked to a 13kw Tesla Powerwall battery (with built in inverter) installed for a family home.
  • EV charger included in the installation
  • The homeowner was a high user of electricity and has swapped to a full EV since installation.#
  • Before winter, the client is considering adding a Tesla Powerwall Expansion battery to store more power, which he can charge overnight at a low tariff and use during the day on days with lower generation.

R.O.I.

Their estimated saving was £35,158 over the system lifetime giving a nett saving of over £20,000.

Payback Duration

The ‘payback’ period on their system was nine years excluding the additional money saved by selling 11% of everything generated back to the grid.

Their monthly electricity bill went from £200 a month to less than £75 (excluding selling electricity back to the grid).

Environmental Impact

Each year they will avoid 35kg of C02 which equates to 348 trees being planted, the equivalent of 34,600 miles of car travel and 39 long haul flights, over the system lifetime.
